Dan Weissling has been an active member of the Friends of Government Canyon Board of Directors since 2012, and is currently serving as the Board’s Vice President. Dan joined the Board after retirement from Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), where he was employed for 34 years. With degrees from the University of Texas at Austin in both Zoology/Pre-Med and Mechanical Engineering, Dan’s experience included mechanical engineering design, project management, and general management. He was a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas, and a registered Project Management Professional (PMP). Dan worked as a Department Director and Program Director during the last ten years of his career at SwRI.
Dan and his wife Debi, a retired educator, have resided in San Antonio for almost 40 years. They enjoy having their three children, and six grandchildren, living nearby. Debi is the event reservationist for the Activities Committee at Government Canyon, coordinating many of the public events held there. With his strong love of nature and the outdoors, Dan actively supports Government Canyon, both as a Board member and as a volunteer for many of their activities.
