Whether hiking, biking, rafting, star-gazing, birding or enjoying leisurely scenic drives, Big Bend is perfect for your adventure! Boasting elevations from 1,800 to over 8,000 feet, Big Bend National Park is one of the last remaining wild corners of the United States. Who is Invited
Open to ages 12 and older; minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Registration & Fees
Registration required for EACH participant. Sorry, no group registrations. All Natural Area entry fees apply.
When & Where to Meet
Arrive by 8:45 am. Meet near the rainwater harvesting tower next to the Visitor’s Center. Plan ahead, as the Natural Area often experiences heavy visitation and wait time at the fee booth.
What to Wear & Bring
Wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing; bring water (1 liter per person), and a snack if you like.
Requirements
Group size is limited to 30. Reservations required and will be accepted through noon Saturday, December 2, 2017. No pets please. To reduce human impact on the Natural Area, please follow the Leave No Trace principles of outdoor ethics.
Cancelations
In the event of inclement weather, this program is subject to cancellation. Check trail conditions by calling GCSNA’s main office at 210-688-9055 after 7:30AM, going to the GCSNA twitter feed or the Friends of Government Canyon Facebook page .
