  • 12861 Galm Road San Antonio, TX, 78254 United States (map)

There’s a treasure hunt going on that combines technology with nature!

Learn how to Geocache with experienced geocacher Dawn Bodhi and the Friends of Government Canyon. This is a classroom-style program geared toward adults, with minimal walking. Limited to the first 20 who sign up with a STRICT AGE POLICY. Participants must be 16 and older. For those interested, after the class we will search for “practice caches” placed near the Visitor Center. Bring your own GPS if you wish to participate in this segment.  No pets please. Reservations required. Sorry, no group reservations. Include name of each participant, e-mail address and telephone number for each reservation. Participants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a liability release form (provided when registering) prior to attending. NOTE: If you do not receive a confirmation email the day prior to the event, you are not registered. This program is subject to cancellation. Natural Area entrance fees apply. For more information, e-mail reservations@friendsofgc.org, or call (210) 688-9055, ext 2009.

The fine print

IMPORTANT: Be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of this program; if the natural area is experiencing unusually heavy visitation you may get caught waiting in line to get past the Fee Booth, and we’d hate for you to be late to the program! Meet at the Visitor Center Exhibit Gallery.

Limited to 20 participants.
