Join the Friends of Government Canyon and the Sierra Club for a jointly-led guided hike. The hike will range from 4 to 7 miles on one of the many trails at Government Canyon State Natural Area.
Who is Invited
Open to ages 13 and over; minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
When & Where to Meet
Arrive by 8:15. Plan ahead, as the Natural Area often experiences heavy visitation and wait time at the fee booth. Meet near the rainwater harvesting tower next to the Visitor’s Center. The hike starts promptly at 8:30.
What to Wear & Bring
Dress appropriately; wear sturdy footwear for rough terrain, sunscreen and hats are recommended. Bring 2 liters of water per person and a snack.
Requirements
Group size is limited. No pets please. Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian. To reduce human impact on the Natural Area, please follow the Leave No Trace principles of outdoor ethics.
Registration, Fees & Cancellation
Registration is NOT required for this hike. Natural Area entry fees apply; stop at the Entrance Fee Booth to self-pay/register.
