Join Friends of Government Canyon volunteers for a butterfly talk and walk. A presentation will kick off the afternoon with a discussion of native butterfly species, their needs and role in the ecosystem. The presentation will be followed by a hike to search for butterflies.
Who is Invited
Open to ages 12 and up; minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian. No pets please.
Registration & Fees
Registration required for EACH participant. Sorry, no group registrations. Natural Area entry fees apply; stop at the Entrance Fee Booth to self-pay/register.
When & Where to Meet
Arrive by 11:45 AM. Meet at the Pavilion just off of Parking Lot A. Plan ahead, as the Natural Area often experiences heavy visitation and there may be wait time at the fee booth.
What to Wear & Bring
Please dress appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring at least on (1) liter of water per person. Hats and sunscreen are recommended. Photography is welcome!
Requirements
Group size is limited. No pets please. Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian. Participants must be able to walk over rocky, uneven ground. To reduce human impact on the Natural Area, please follow the Leave No Trace principles of outdoor ethics.
