Join us on a relaxing, family friendly 1.25 mile walk on the Discovery Trail. We will take our time and experience nature with all our senses. You’ll finish feeling energized and less stressed.
Who is Invited
Open to ages 5 and older; minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian. Participants should be able to hike 1.25 miles.
Registration & Fees
Registration required for EACH participant. Sorry, no group reservations. All Natural Area entry fees apply; stop at the Fee Booth to self-pay/register.
When & Where to Meet
Arrive by 9:45 am. Meet near the rainwater harvesting tower next to the Visitor's Center. Plan ahead, as the Natural Area often experiences heavy visitation and there may be wait time at the fee booth.
What to Wear & Bring
Please dress appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring at least one (1) liter of water per person. Hats and sunscreen are also recommended. Photography is welcome.
Requirements
Group size is limited. No pets please. Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian. To reduce human impact on the Natural Area, please follow the Leave No Trace principles of outdoor ethics.
Cancellations
Programs are subject to cancellation. On inclement mornings, check trail conditions by calling GCSNA’s main office at 210-688-9055 after 7:30AM, or by going to the GCSNA twitter feed or the Friends of Government Canyon Facebook page .
