Survival Firecraft

Join us and learn the basic fundamentals of creating fire! This is a hands-on class covering topics such as The Fire Triangle, how to prepare, construct and maintain a fire, improvised fire starting methods, fire lays and much more! Please note that we will NOT be covering fire with a bow drill.

Who is Invited

Open to ages 15 and up; minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian. 

Registration & Fees

Registration required for EACH participant.  Sorry, no group registrations.  Natural Area entry fees apply; stop at the Entrance Fee Booth to self-pay/register.

When & Where to Meet

Arrive by 9:45 AM. Meet at the Pavilion, just off of Parking Lot A.  Plan ahead, as the Natural Area often experiences heavy visitation and wait time at the fee booth.  

What to Wear & Bring

Dress for the weather; bring plenty of water, a snack and sun protection. Don't forget to read the information outlined in the gear list.  Bring your gear and completed liablity form with you to the clinic.    

Requirements

Group size is limited. No pets please. Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.  To reduce human impact on the Natural Area, please follow the Leave No Trace principles of outdoor ethics.

Should you need to cancel your registration, please do so via Eventbrite or contact us at registrations@friendsofgc.org.  On inclement mornings, check trail conditions by calling GCSNA's main office at 210-688-9055 after 7:30AM, or by going to the GCSNA twitter feed or the Friends of Government Canyon Facebook page.
