Join the Friends of Government Canyon for a guided hike at Government Canyon State Natural Area.

Hike Lytle’s Loop in the frontcountry and check out the savannah restoration area. This hike is approximately 5 miles in length on a relatively flat trail.

Who is Invited

Open to ages 10 and over; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Registration/reservations required! Sorry, no group registrations.

When & Where to Meet

Arrive no later than 7:45AMMeet at the frontcountry tailhead in Parking Lot C. The Natural Area front gates open at 7:00AM; plan to be in Parking Lot C and ready to go no later than 7:45AM. The hike starts promptly at 8:00AM.

What to Wear & Bring

Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for rough trails; bring two liters of water PER PERSON and a snack.

Requirements

No pets please. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.  Participants should be able to hike approximately 5 miles over a relatively flat trail.

To reduce human impact on the Natural Area, please follow the Leave No Trace principles of outdoor ethics.

Registration, Fees & Cancellation

Registration is required for this hike. Group size is limited to the first 10 that register.   Natural Area entry fees apply.
