Join the Friends of Government Canyon for a guided hike at Government Canyon State Natural Area.
Experience the dinosaur tracks from above and at ground level while hiking the Joe Johnston and Overlook Trails. This hike is approximately 6.25 miles in length along rocky trails with elevation changes.
Who is Invited
Open to ages 12 and over; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Registration/reservations required! Sorry, no group registrations.
When & Where to Meet
Arrive no later than 7:45AM. Meet at the Visitors Center near the rainwater harvesting tower. The Natural Area front gates open at 7:00AM; plan to be at the Visitor Center and ready to go no later than 7:45AM. The hike starts promptly at 8:00AM.
What to Wear & Bring
Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for rough trails; bring two liters of water PER PERSON and a snack.

No pets please. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Participants should be able to hike approximately 6.25 miles over rocky trails with elevation changes.

Registration is required for this hike. Group size is limited to the first 10 that register. Natural Area entry fees apply.
