Join us on a first day hike to learn about our feathered friends!
Learn about the fun and excitement of birding, including tips on using binoculars, cameras, field guides and sound recordings. Bring your own equipment or borrow a pair of our binoculars. This outing will make use of a paved road and the adjacent accessible terrain with mild elevation gain along the way.
Who is Invited
Open to ages 8 and older; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Registration/reservations required! Sorry, no group registrations; no pets please.
When & Where to Meet
Arrive no later than 7:45AM. Meet at the Visitors Center near the rainwater harvesting tower. The Natural Area front gates open at 7:00AM; plan to be at the Visitor Center and ready to go no later than 7:45AM. The hike starts promptly at 8:00AM.
What to Wear & Bring
Dress for the weather and be prepared for sunny conditions — there will be limited cover on the road. Bring at least one liter of water and a snack if you like.
Requirements
No pets please. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Participants will be hiking along a paved road and the adjacent accessible terrain with mild elevation gain.
To reduce human impact on the Natural Area, please follow the Leave No Trace principles of outdoor ethics.
Registration, Fees & Cancellation
Registration is required for this hike. Group size is limited to the first 8 that register. Registration opens on Saturday two weeks prior to the event and closes at noon the Thursday before the event. Natural Area entry fees apply.
