Women's BEGINNER Hike

New to hiking? Like going in groups? This is a special WOMEN'S ONLY hike, guided, and paced so we can "stop and smell the mesquite."

We’ll be hiking approximately 4 miles in length with a fair amount of elevation gain over rocky, rugged terrain. We will go slowly, savoring the day, and sharing hiking tips along the way.

Who is Invited

Open to women ages 13 and older; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.

Registration, Fees, Day Pass & Cancellation

Registration is required for this hike and the hiking group size is limited. Sorry, no group registrations. Registration opens on Saturday, two weeks prior to the event, and closes at noon, the Thursday before the event. Though the hike is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area apply.

Plan to arrive early as mornings can be very busy! To save time at the Fee Booth on crowded days and ensure entrance, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass . SPECIAL NOTE: Reserving a Day Pass is NOT the same as making a program reservation.

When & Where to Meet

Arrive no later than 8:45AMMeet in Parking Lot C. The Natural Area front gates open at 7:00AM; plan to be in Parking Lot C to go no later than 8:45AM. The hike starts promptly at 9:00AM.

What to Wear & Bring

Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for rough trails; bring one (1) liter of water PER PERSON and a snack if you like.

Participants should be able to hike 4.0 miles over rocky, rugged terrain with a fair amount of elevation gain.
