Celebrate Father’s Day with a hike to an amazing view on the Bluff Spurs Trail. This hike is approximately 4 miles in length with a fair amount of elevation gain over rocky, rugged terrain.
Who is Invited
Open to all ages; participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; no pets please.
Registration & Fees
Registration is NOT required for this hike, however the group size is limited and open to the first 15 who check in with the hike leader between 8:00-8:15AM. Plan to arrive early as mornings can be very busy. The Natural Area’s front gates open at 7:00 a.m.; plan to check in at the Visitor Center and be ready to go no later than 8:15 a.m. The hike starts promptly at 8:30 a.m. Though the hike is free, all Natural Area entry fees apply.
To save time at the Fee Booth and ensure entrance, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass.
When & Where to Meet
Meet at the Rainwater Tower next to the Visitor Center.
What to Wear & Bring
Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat are recommended. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for rough trails; bring two (2) liters of water PER PERSON, and a snack.

This program is subject to cancellation. Should there be inclement weather, please check Natural Area conditions by calling GCSNA's main office at 210-688-9055, or go to GCSNA’s website, twitter feed or Facebook page.
This is a public program intended for individuals or families. If you would like to bring a group for a program at Government Canyon, please contact the Park Interpreter at Lisa.Cole@tpwd.texas.gov to schedule at a different time.
