Join us on a special edition of our monthly First Saturday Guided Hike. Knowledgeable guides will discuss the flora, fauna, natural and cultural history of Government Canyon State Natural Area. This hike recurs most months, but the length of hike and interpretive topic(s) will vary depending on the group.
Who is Invited
Open to ages 10 and above; participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; no pets please.
Registration & Fees
Program reservations are NOT required for this hike. Though the hike is free, all Natural Area entry fees apply.
To save time at the Fee Booth on crowded days and ensure entrance, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass.
When & Where to Meet
Meet at the Visitor Center. The Natural Area can be very busy! The Natural Area front gates open at 7:00AM; plan to be at the Visitor Center and ready to go no later than 7:45AM. The hike begins promptly at 8:00AM.
What to Wear & Bring
Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy footwear for hiking over rough terrain. Bring two liters of water per person, and a snack.
