Join Government Canyon’s Resource Specialist, Kelsey Woodward, to get a glimpse into the cultural and natural history of Government Canyon. 9AM-11AM or possibly Noon. This 2-3 mile hike will take us to the historic Kallison Ranch homestead. Along the way we’ll discuss the Native American and ranching history of the property, the historical use of common flora and fauna, how past use has shaped the landscape we see today and our present management of the property. Hike starts promptly at 9 AM! Participants should be able to hike over rocky, rugged, uneven ground with changes in elevation. This program is open to all ages, minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian; no pets please. Reservations required and will be accepted through noon on Friday April 21, 2017. Sorry, no group reservations. Include name, age if under 18, e-mail address and telephone number for each reservation. For more information, e-mail reservations@friendsofgc.org or call (210) 688-9055, ext 2002. Be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of this program; if the natural area is experiencing unusually heavy visitation you may get caught waiting in line to get past the Fee Booth, and we’d hate for you to be late to the program! Natural Area entrance fees apply.
