Join Ranger John Koepke for a beginner’s guided hike at Government Canyon State Natural Area.

Current COVID-19 protocols; masks and social distancing; are strongly encouraged. Join Ranger John Koepke for a hike along the Savannah Loop Trail. This hike is a little over 2 miles in length and suitable for all ages.

Who is Invited

Open to all ages; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Registration/reservations required for EACH person! Sorry, no group registrations. No pets please.

When & Where to Meet

Arrive no later than 8:45AM.  The Natural Area front gate opens at 7:00AM. Meet in Parking Lot C by the Frontcountry Trailhead. Please be ready to go no later than 8:45AM as the starts promptly at 9:00AM.

What to Wear & Bring

Current COVID-19 protocols; masks and social distancing; are strongly encouraged. Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for rough trails; bring two liters of water PER PERSON and a snack.

Requirements

No pets please. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.  Participants should be able to hike approximately 2 miles over rocky, uneven ground.

To reduce human impact on the Natural Area, please follow the Leave No Trace principles of outdoor ethics.

Registration, Fees & Cancellation

Registration is required for this hike. Group size is limited to the first 10 that register.   Natural Area entry fees apply.
