Start the New Year with an adventure on the Bluff Spurs Trail.
The Bluff Spurs Trail leads to an amazing overlook where you can get a real sense of the canyon that is our namesake. Your hike leader will be our site Superintendent who is very knowledgeable about our geology, history and much more! This hike is approximately 4 miles in length with a fair amount of elevation gain over rocky, rugged terrain.
Who is Invited
Open to ages 8 and older; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Registration/reservations required! Sorry, no group registrations; no pets please.
When & Where to Meet
Arrive no later than 12:45PM. Meet at the Visitor Center near the rainwater harvesting tower. The Natural Area front gates open at 7:00AM; plan to be at the Visitor Center and ready to go no later than 12:45PM. The hike starts promptly at 1:00PM.
What to Wear & Bring
Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for rough trails; bring one (1) liter of water PER PERSON and a snack if you like.
Requirements
No pets please. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Participants must be able to hike approximately 4 miles over rocky, rugged terrain with a fair amount of elevation gain.
To reduce human impact on the Natural Area, please follow the Leave No Trace principles of outdoor ethics.
Registration, Fees & Cancellation
Registration is required for this hike. Group size is limited to the first 12 that register. Registration opens on Saturday two weeks prior to the event and closes at noon the Thursday before the event. Natural Area entry fees apply.
