Take a hike in search of fall color. Learn to identify local wildflowers, and take photos if you wish. This hike is approximately 1.5-2 miles round trip over sections of moderately rough terrain with frequent stops to identify flowers.
Who is Invited
Open to ages 8 and over; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please. This is a public program intended for individuals or families. If you would like to bring a group for a program at Government Canyon, please contact the Park Interpreter at Lisa.Cole@tpwd.texas.gov to schedule at a different time.
Registration, Fees, & Day Passes & Cancellation
Registration is required for this hike. Group size is limited. Sorry, no group registrations. Registration opens on Saturday, two weeks prior to the event, and closes at noon, the Thursday before the event. Though the hike is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area apply.
To save time at the Fee Booth on crowded days and ensure entrance, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass . SPECIAL NOTE: Reserving a Day Pass is NOT the same as making a program reservation.
When & Where to Meet
Meet at the Frontcountry Trailhead in parking lot C. Please be in place and ready to go no later than 8:45 am.
What to Wear & Bring
Sturdy shoes, sun protection, and at least 1 liter of water per person are strongly recommended.
Details
Dress for time spent outdoors. Comfortable shoes, bug spray and a hat are recommended. Bring at least one bottle of water per person and a snack.
