Most avid birders eventually add sound identification to the tool set they use in identifying birds. But bird songs convey more information than just the identity of the singer.

Who is Invited
This activity is stationary (no hike). While birders of all ages are welcome, the activity is best for ages 8 and up. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or guardian. No pets please.
Registration, Fees, Day Pass & Cancellation
Registration is NOT required for this program. Though the program is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area apply.
The Natural Area can be very busy! To ensure entrance and save time at the Fee Booth please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass . There is often a line at the fee booth; arrive early to get to your activity on time. Day passes may be purchased up to one month in advance.
This is a public program intended for individuals or families rather than groups. If you would like to bring a group for a program at Government Canyon, please contact the Park Interpreter at Lisa.Cole@tpwd.texas.gov to schedule at a different time.

When & Where to Meet
This activity will be in the Gallery, the screened structure, near the Visitor Center. Lot A or B will be the closest parking. The parking lot and path to the Gallery are paved and near an accessible restroom.
What to Wear & Bring
Dress for the outdoors, in layers that can be added or removed as the weather changes. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, bug spray and a hat are recommended.
